Exams are based on the understanding (agreed to by you in your participation in the class), that you will try to learn the material as best you can, AND seek help if you are having trouble. You are expected then to do your best on the following items:

In this class you are expected to do assignments on your own unless otherwise noted. This process forces you to do more than simply read the text since ultimately this is a class about doing, not about reading. Programming can only be learned by programming. Examples given in class or discussed in the text provide an excellent starting ground, however, you must program to learn.
On Mini-Assignment 3 everyone was to have had a very easy chance to program a function. This process should compliment the lectures, examples and text in your discovery of programming.
You MUST prepare for exams. Preparation at the University level involves study, and study involves practice. As a benefit to you, exams and solutions have been provided from previous terms to assist the STUDY process. These should be used wisely - an excellent way to study is to work your way entirely through a previous exam (without looking at the solutions) as best you can. If you cannnot do any part of the exam, seek help with that. In this way you can determine where your weaknesses and strenths lie and see how well prepared (or not) you are.
As your instructor I am charged with presenting the material to you to the best of my ability, and with assisting you in the process of learning what has not been made obvious in class or the notes. I provide office hours and appointments for just this purpose. It is up to you to take advantage of these opportunities for you to learn.
Exams given in this class are designed to cover precisely the material discussed in the appropriate chapters of the text and lectures. The format will vary only in content from the sample exams so as to give you the best opportunity to study appropriate material.
